Nevada Nursing Associations

Practicing nurses may choose to join one or several nursing associations in Nevada to network with their peers and promote the profession. There are a variety of groups to choose from, with each playing an important role in promoting and enhancing the nursing profession and its impact on healthcare in the state and throughout the country.

Nurses may benefit from being a part of a professional association for leadership development opportunities, to gain a voice in legislative issues, to collaborate with one’s peers, and to advocate for critical issues facing the healthcare industry today. It’s also an effective way to have a voice for the profession.

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) is a non-profit federation of state health organizations representing more than 10,000 non-profit and for-profit assisted living, nursing facility, developmentally-disabled, and sub-acute care providers that care for more than 1.5 million elderly and disabled individuals nationally.

The American Medical Association (AMA) is the country’s largest physicians’ group advocates on Issues important to national health. The group promotes the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

Clark County Medical Society is a professional membership organization that has served physicians since 1955. It promotes health education and helps physicians ensure their rights are represented

Nevada Healthcare Association (NHCA) represents non-profit and for-profit assisted living, nursing and sub-acute care facilities and providers that care for the elderly and disabled. It works with state agencies on the development of payment rates, on the survey and inspection of nursing homes and promotes public health and welfare for better long-term care among healthcare facilities in Nevada.

Nevada HealthPAC is the political action committee of the Nevada Hospital Association. Its goal is to influence and shape healthcare policy in Nevada by promoting improvement in the quality of care.

Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) is a not-for-profit professional association that represents most of the state’s hospitals health and medical organizations. For more than 40 years, it has helped hospitals address issues such as continuing education and liability.

Nevada Nurses Association (NNA) is the voice of nurses throughout the state. The group focuses on issues facing the nursing profession and advocates the needs of registered nurses in all settings. It partners with ANA to help nurses in the state achieve their goals.

Nevada Organization of Nurse Leaders (NONL) helps to promote the development of nurse leaders through collaborative efforts, continuing education and mentorship. The group also influences health policy and positively advances the nursing profession.

Northern Nevada Nurses of Achievement Committee honors the nursing profession by recognizing outstanding colleagues and increasing awareness of nursing as a profession. The group has raised $50,000 to fund scholarships each year in Northern Nevada.
