Las Vegas Civil Engineering Jobs

Civil engineering is the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. Civil engineers may work on projects such as bridges, roadways, canals and buildings.

Given the unique nature of Southern Nevada’s geography and unique needs, there are always plenty of civil engineering jobs in Las Vegas. Some entry level positions require just licensure and a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. Entry level civil engineers work under the supervision of an experienced engineer and may start out by monitoring construction and work in the field.

The majority of the jobs, however, require a master’s degree or higher. The more educated and experienced, the higher the salary. According to the U. S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, a civil engineer can expect to earn anywhere from $44,810 (for a starting position) to more than $104,420.

The U.S. Department of Labor projects that employment in civil engineering will increase 18 percent over the next decade, faster than the average for all occupations. This is due to population growth and the strong need to improve infrastructure, especially as it relates to transportation and pollution control, as well as the repair of existing bridges, roads and public structures. As a result, there continues to be a strong demand for professionals to fill Las Vegas civil engineering jobs.
